A Man Must Reap
1-11-12 I hope all you lovely people are having a great 2012 thus far. ‘tis a little early to give this update, but I believe Conjecture will finally be complete on February 10th. The goal is to premiere the film at WorldFest-Houston International Film Festival in April. Once the film is complete, I will get DVD copies out to all parties involved. Expect one of my mass emails sometime in February. Look for an official update within the next few weeks. 11-1-11 After much consideration, Conjecture has gone from being a long short film to a short feature film, or “featurette”. It will be submitted to festivals as a feature, and I will be talking with at least one sales rep about distribution as either a straight-to-cable, or VOD release (I’ll leave all the possibilities up to the experts that solicit films for distribution). Gerry and David have resumed their work on audio and music, and we should see a premiere around February. I know it’s been a long road due to several delays – not the least of which was the two separate edits – but things are once again progressing. For those of you eager to see your imdb credits: when I have the opportunity, I will be submitting the film as a feature in “post-production” status. I wish you all a Happy Thanksgiving.7-20-11 Gerry G & David W gave word today that they will be completed with audio & music early October, and we will have a finished film by mid-October. I plan on holding a premier and will be exploring venue options in the next two months. More updates to follow. 6-30-11 Conjecture will be handed off to Gerry G & David W this weekend for them to begin post sound design, editing, & music. I'm going to be optimistic and say we should have a finished film by the end of July. It's been a long time coming! More details to follow. 4-6-11 Just giving an update for those of you who are curious. Editing is going well, but slow. Tis the nature of the beast when you are working on it part time. Samuel and I are steadily at it, though. I'm glad to say we've got 10 scenes knocked out. It's looking pretty good. Check back for updates. 2-20-11 That's a wrap! We had three final intense production weekends at 3 different locations with a number of great actors, nice cars, and our hardworking crew. Now we move onward to post-production. I'll post updates as we make progress to give everyone an idea of where we stand. I've set a goal of June 1st to have the video editing complete. We'll turn it over to Gerry for the audio & David for the music from there. Thanks to ALL of you involved in this production. It was a lot of hard work, but it was a lot of fun. 1-25-11 We finished weekend one of four (the final four) with some great shots, great acting, and fabulous teamwork. We're taking a weekend off while I go under the knife, and then we'll pick back up with three weekends of intense production. The shots we have really look great, and Gerry's audio is top notch. David Williams has some of the unedited footage in his possession, getting a feel for the mood so he can begin preliminary work on the soundtrack. Things are looking good. 1-14-11 The final round of auditions was a success. We've cast a great and varied ensemble of actors that are sure to make the final four weeks of production exciting and rewarding. There is so much yet to accomplish, but our vision remains steadfast, and the belief that this film is going to be both meaningful and entertaining is growing stronger with each hurdle that is cleared. 12-14-10 We will be holding the third and final round of auditions on December 28, 29, and 30. We've gotten many responses thus far and expect many more to come. If you, or someone you know, is interested in auditioning, use the Contact page to get more information. 12-5-10 We had several great production shoots this week. The crew was FAN-freaking-TASTIC! Thank you, Samuel, Gerry, Dea, Aubrey, William, Jason S., Kalina, Sara and Sherri. Also a big thanks to the cast: Rachel, you were fantastic; Jason R., you did a great job; Tom, you were the perfect police chief. I also have to give a big thanks to those who worked as extras. The production crew and I will be planning quite a bit over the next several weeks. Then, in early January we will hold our final round of auditions. In late January we will resume production, which will conclude early February. 11-15-10 We are pleased to add to the cast: Rachel Rackers as Amanda, the Female Lead; Jason Ramirez as Lucas, the Male Lead; and Thomas Weiderhold as Police Chief Shepherd. Our next production date is 11-29, and we are currently seeking extras for the scene. We've received several responses, but a few more people are needed. Our shoot at SHSU in Hunstville on 11-6 went really well. We've got a great production crew (Samuel, Gerry, William, and Aubrey were great at SHSU) dedicated to making this film the best it can be. More good things ahead! 10-27-10 Phase 2 of the auditioning process will be held on 11-5 and 11-6. We will be looking to cast the Female Lead role and the Police Chief. 10-16-10 Day One Down! We had a great production day on this, the first of many for Conjecture. I'd like to give a special thanks to the A/V Crew: DP - Samuel Renaud; Camera Operator- Jason Smalling; Production Sound Mixer & Camera Operator - Gerry Gallegos; Assistant Camera (plus) - William Taft; Boom Operator (and then some) - Ramon Salinas; Production Crew: PA and defacto 1st AD - Sherri Moberg; PA (Grip, Gaffer, Moral support!) - Aubrey Harding; and a big thanks to Makeup - Kalina Fashaw. Also a huge thanks to the cast: Teri Galvan, Debra Jackson, Robin Haynes, Renee Edd, Joey Rios, and Lenny Delk (good luck on your move to L.A., Lenny & family!) You guys were all fantastic! 10-8-10 Big news! Jason Smalling, Camera Operator, is a new dad as of5:14PM on October 7th. Miss Ashlyn Pearl, weighing exactly 7 pounds, has entered the world after a long nine months of keeping Jason and his misses in suspense. Congratulations to both of you! Something tells me it won't be long before we see pictures of the little one on his website: http://www.savedimage.net/. 10-1-10 Tonight is the first of two audition sessions for our first phase of production. We had a few crew changes. Ivy had to drop from the team because of scheduling conflicts, and Deandrea Jenkins stepped up as 1st AD and has been great thus far. We've secured several more locations and even had an article written about the film in the Woodlands Villager. The article contains a few inaccuracies, but I have to snicker a bit at the irony. You'll understand better what I mean when you see Conjecture. 9-17-10 We will have our first round of auditions on October 1st & 2nd. Our first production date is set for October 16th. From there production will resume in January and span several weekends. 9-15-10 Our Production Team has grown to include several more experienced filmmakers & production personnel: Sherri Moberg, Ashley Richardson, Ramon Salinas, Michael Shanks, WilliamTaft, Deandrea Jenkins, Gerry Gallegos, Jason Smalling, Joshua Kutach, and Will Jenkins. I'm looking forward to working with each of these creative individuals who have much to bring to the table. Ivy Davila has moved into the role of 1st AD with Ashely Richardson filling her slot as Production Coordinator. Dates will be coming soon.9-1-10 Conjecture is the next project - a short film - for Lunar Pig Productions. We are currently in pre-production and have assembled a great core team for this ambitious project and are currently recruiting other vital members to complete our crew. Production will span several weekends, one in October or November, and the rest in January. We will work to acquire several challenging locations and resources and fill roles for a cast consisting of 28 speaking roles of many ages & ethnicities and a host of extras. I'm pleased to be working with Jason Ramirez, our Production Manager, again, as well as working with two film school graduates & filmmakers, Aubrey Harding, our Production Designer, and Ivy Davila, Production Coordinator. We will also work with Editor and DP, Samuel Renaud; Visual Effects guru, Richard Barbieri; Composer, ADR Mixer, & Foley Artist, David Williams.
